Last Friday Film Fest - June 29, 2018
For many people living in conflict-ridden areas in the Middle East, rock climbing in the surrounding mountains has become a way to make friends, engage in a fulfilling outdoor activity, and escape from a difficult reality. Driven by their love for exploration and climbing, many professional climbers supported by the local community have started developing new climbing areas, which in turn has opened doors not only to the world climbing community eager to discover new crags but also to streams of tourists and climbing enthusiasts, all while benefiting the local community both culturally and financially.
Last Friday Film Fest is excited to present “Climbing Films from the Middle East” on Friday June 29th at 6 PM. We will present three movies on this fascinating topic and host guest speakers who are ready to share their own experiences with the attendees. The purpose of this event is to promote awareness for these climbing areas and on how to protect and maintain them while uniting people through a passion for climbing.
Arabic food and drink specials will be provided at The Ute & Yeti, while the event will be held at CityROCK Climbing Center, 21 N. Nevada, Colorado Springs, CO.
